Strongest Field Ever Prepares for 2025 Rocket Classic in Detroit

Strongest Field Ever Prepares for 2025 Rocket Classic in Detroit

The seventh edition of the Rocket Classic could feature the strongest field yet as the PGA Tour invades Detroit, Michigan this week.

We're done with signature events (thank GOD) and with just one major remaining, we're a drive, chip and a putt away from the end of the 2025 PGA Tour campaign.

That's why the top players have committed to playing the par-72, 7,380-yard  Detroit Golf Club this week, as players hope to set themselves up for a run to the FedEx Cup playoffs.

Colin Morikawa and Patrick Cantlay will find themselves in Detroit and are searching for help to end their respective winless droughts that span multiple seasons now, all the while searching for points in hopes of a U.S. Ryder Cup appearance.

Both Morikawa and Cantlay find themselves on the outside looking in of the top six automatic qualifying spots with just three months until players storm Bethpage Black for the biennial competition. While both Morikawa and Cantlay are still expected to be there, there is one we know will be.

Travelers Championship winner Keegan Bradley won for the fourth time in the last three seasons, and has won more than anyone who's not Scottie Scheffler or Rory McIlroy during that stretch. If he can notch a second win in a row, it would only add to the argument to make him the first player-captain for the U.S. Ryder Cup team since Arnold Palmer did so in 1963.

Fellow Tour winners Ben Griffin, Hideki Matsuyama, Si Woo Kim, Davis Thompson, Wyndham Clark and Akshay Bhatia will also be on hand, along with Cameron Young, Rickie Fowler and Max Homa, with the hopes of getting back in the winner's circle.

Make sure to tune into From the Rough Golf Podcast, Wednesday at 5pm CT at FanStreamSports.com - and later wherever you get your podcasts - for a full preview and PGA of America member Johnny Gerber's winning picks for the week.
